Along the Trail:

Hyde Park:
River Clean-up, Saturday, October 3, 2015 (rain date October 4)
This year we are expanding into Milton around Paul’s Bridge and Hemenway Pond if we get enough volunteers.  Eventually, we will add other segments of the river as we finish sites in Hyde Park and PCB’s are removed.  I am sure that NepRWA will continue to work on the Quincy Riverwalk during Park Serve Day.  Perhaps, our Council needs to sponsor an appropriate day in the Spring and Fall to attend to plantings, etc at all major sites along the path, especially Pope John Paul II and Martini under the supervision of Jeremy Dick and TTOR.  We need to wait for construction and clean-up to end at Ryan and Port Norfolk to add them to the list.
We are looking for volunteers especially from communities on the Mattapan Line for a new site.  I was hoping that someone could volunteer to reach out to those communities and help us find volunteers.

Milton:
Lee Toma is pressing the Town of Milton to put up Bicycle-Friendly Community signs at various entrances to the town.  The town administrator suggested that he contact DCR about some of the sites. Here are the DCR sites that he has in mind:
Blue Hill Avenue at Mattapan
Truman Parkway at Hyde Park (north)
Neponset Valley Parkway
Blue Hill River Road at Canton
Chickatawbut Road Overlook at Quincy
Neponset Greenway at Dorchester
Baker Bridge at Dorchester
Central Avenue at Dorchester/Mattapan
Port Norfolk:
Thanks to DCR for their help making Tenean Beach Day a great event, Kevin and his crew for the cleanup and Maggie and her helpers for the environmental activities and fun games. Hundreds of people came. Kids had a wonderful time!

Changes at Boston TTOR:
Conrad Crawford will now serve as Director of Community Projects, Boston. John Vasconcellos is now the Senior Director, Southeast and Greater Boston regions with responsibility for the activities of The Trustees on the Islands and Cape, South Coast, South Shore, Neponset area as well as the metro Boston area, including the Boston core, i.e. the Boston Public Market.
