Join
us for our monthly meeting as we discuss progress of construction of
the Neponset Trail and other issues along the Neponset River Greenway
with staff from the Mass. Department of Conservation and Recreation,
which manages it, the police who patrol it, and concerned
citizens. Our meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month
at rotating locations in communities of

Port Norfolk Park Opening Ceremony, May 6, 2017
On
Saturday, May 16, Governor Baker, Mayor Walsh, and a host of other
local politicians and Port Norfolk's John Lyons spoke to a crowd
gathered on a sometimes sunny May afternoon to open the newest park
along our greenway
 
Mattapan-Milton Trail Segment Soft Opening
On Friday, May 19, 2017 at 5:00 pm,
the newest section of the Neponset Trail opened for public use. By
Saturday afternoon, it was already being heavily used. There will be a
formal opening later this year. The Dorchester Reporter has a nice article.

Mattapan-Milton Trail Walk, Sunday, May 21, 2017
 The
Greenway Council promised to lead a walk from Mattapan Station to
Central Ave. and back as soon as we could get the word out that the
trail was opened. Jessica Mink and Lee Toma led a walk on the new trail on Sunday after an announcement went out on Saturday.
New Stop signs on Central Ave. in Milton
 After
too many trolley-car crashes and just in time for the trail opening and
, the Town of Milton put up stop signs on Central Ave. to force cars to
stop before crossing the trolley tracks and the trail.

Neponset Trail Ride, Saturday, May 27, 2017
 On
Saturday, May 27, we had a beautiful day for a ride on the full length
of the current and future Neponset Trail from Paul's Bridge on the edge
of the Blue Hills to Castle Island in South Boston. (route and photos)
Neponset River Watershed Association Fiftieth Annual Meeting
On Wednesday, June 7 at 6:30pm at the Four Points by Sheraton Norwood,
1125 Boston-Providence Highway (Rt 1), enjoy a delicious buffet dinner;
historical anecdotes and reflections by NepRWA Executive Director, Ian
Cooke; special recognition of volunteers, past employees, and friends of
the river; and a kayak raffle drawing. Guests will also get a free copy
of the brand new Neponset River Paddle Guide!

Inter-Neighborhood Ride Series
A
group of bicyclists in diverse neighborhoods of Boston have been
planning rides in each of those neighborhoods. Rain dates are in
parentheses.

Geology Tour of The Trustees Signal Hill Reservation in Canton
On
Saturday July 8, 2017 from 2:00-3:00 pm, join long time NepRWA board
member, and The Trustees volunteer, Les Tyrala, registered geologist,
for a co-sponsored tour with the Neponset River Watershed Association at
the Trustees Signal Hill Reservation in Canton.
