Due to rain, we did not celebrate the official opening of the trail segment connecting Mattapan and Milton on Saturday, May 12. As of now, no date convenient to the DCR and elected officials has been set, and the communities have been unable to get a permit from the DCR to hold their own event. An email will go out if a date is set before the July newsletter is mailed.

June 28: Two Communities and a River:
The Story of the Neponset Greenway Extension

An interactive community storytelling event guided by True Story Theater on Thursday, June 28th, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Foley Senior Residences, 249 River St, Mattapan, will engage us in learning from the history of the Neponset Greenway.

It is sponsored by the Mattapan Milton Neponset Community (MMNC), which gathers as neighbors along the Neponset River to explore how to make the recent Greenway Trail Extension an opportunity to forge stronger relationships among residents of Mattapan and Milton based on mutual respect, understanding, and a common love of the beautiful river and Greenway we share. Their long term goals are understanding, confronting and eliminating structural racism and other forces that divide and disempower Neponset Valley communities.
